Nail Salons
No. 3 Road nail bar between Westminster Highway and Lansdowne, open 10am to 7pm every day of the week. Manicures, pedicures and gel work, easy to fit in around a Canada Line trip since Lansdowne station is close by.
Appointments that require a dedicated afternoon get postponed. Ones that slot into a trip you were already making actually get kept, and that is the practical argument for a nail bar on this stretch of No. 3 Road. Lansdowne Station is close on the Canada Line, Lansdowne Centre is a short walk, and the whole errand folds into a journey you had planned anyway.
Manicures, pedicures and gel are the standard set across the category, so location does most of the differentiating. No. 3 Road between Westminster Highway and Lansdowne is one of the densest service strips in Metro Vancouver, which means any shop on it competes with a long list of near neighbors inside a few hundred metres. That is generally good for customers and hard on operators.
City Centre has changed quickly around this stretch. The blocks either side have gone vertical, the resident population has climbed, and the ground floor retail has shifted toward services people use weekly rather than the destination shopping the corridor was once about. Nail salons, coffee, physiotherapy and dentists now sit within a few hundred metres of each other, serving a population that increasingly does not own a car. Ask about pricing and booking when you telephone, and bear in mind that gel and pedicure work takes longer than the slot most people mentally budget for. Late afternoon is the pinch point in this category everywhere, so earlier in the day is the safer bet.

The Night Market's final season is the loud story. The quieter one: free admission at the Cannery ends Monday, Britannia keeps summer hours through Sunday, and Steveston does sunsets better than anyone.

Nothing on Alexandra Road is a secret. It is just in a strip mall with bad signage and no patio, which is why visitors never find it. Here is how I actually use Richmond's plazas and food courts, which specialists are worth the drive, and when not to bother.

The West Dyke Trail is about five and a half kilometres of flat gravel between Terra Nova Rural Park and Garry Point, and I ride it most mornings. Here is what is actually at the north end, which way to walk so the wind is on your side, and why winter is the better season for it.
