Brighouse forms the southern half of Richmond's City Centre and takes its name from the Canada Line's Richmond-Brighouse terminus. The shopping center at its core anchors the district, City Hall stands within the same few blocks, and the Minoru sports and aquatic precinct occupies the ground beside them. Tower blocks and older low-rise apartments back onto the retail frontages, which puts a resident population within walking distance of the shops rather than a drive away. Foot traffic holds up from the morning commute through to late evening.
No. 3 Road carries the heaviest concentration of ground-floor retail, and the cross streets extend it into the surrounding blocks. Saba Road, Anderson Road and Lansdowne Road pick up smaller storefronts and mall entrances, while Minoru Boulevard runs along the civic and recreation side of the neighborhood. Clothing stores, shoe stores and jewelry shops take up much of the retail space, joined by mobile phone dealers that gather where transit crowds pass.
Food and drink work on a different rhythm to the retail. Bakeries, cafes and bubble tea shops appear in numbers through the district, and their trade follows the same pedestrian flow that runs from the morning commute to late evening. Banks and credit unions keep branches close to the mall entrances and the station, which puts a wide range of everyday services within a few blocks of the terminus.

That distribution matches how the district works day to day: people arrive on foot or by train to buy something, eat, or handle an errand, then move on.
