Bubble Tea
A long-standing Golden Village Taiwanese tea house that is as much a restaurant as a boba shop, serving rice plates and snacks until late. Handy when half your group wants dinner and the other half only wants a milk tea.
Somebody wants dinner and somebody else wants a drink and a snack. Taiwanese tea houses exist to settle that argument. In the tradition, rice plates and savoury dishes sit alongside the milk tea, so a table can order across both wants without anybody compromising, and the format is built for sitting rather than turning tables.
The difference between a boba shop and a tea house is real, and most people outside Richmond never learn to draw it. A boba shop sells drinks and maybe a bag of popcorn chicken. A tea house is a restaurant organized around tea, with a proper savoury menu and a room designed for staying in. Richmond has both in quantity. The tea houses are the ones that matter at ten in the evening.
Hazelbridge Way is the quiet spine of the Golden Village, running behind the No. 3 Road frontage past Aberdeen and the plazas around it. A lot of the district's late trade happens on this street, partly because parking is structured rather than kerbside and partly because the buildings sit close enough together that you can park once and walk between four or five options. That density is the real argument for eating in this part of the city.
Aberdeen station is the nearest stop on the Canada Line, and the last train is the constraint worth checking if you are the sort to sit and talk. Late in Richmond is a moving target, and it moved a fair distance after 2020. The district as a whole winds down earlier than its reputation suggests, so a late plan out here is worth making deliberately rather than assuming.
