Ordering funeral flowers is something most people do rarely, under pressure, and without knowing what to ask for. Sympathy and memorial work is a significant part of what this shop handles, including cemetery wreaths and standing sprays, and a florist who does that work regularly knows the conventions. In a city with Richmond's demographics those conventions cover more than one tradition, and getting them right matters considerably more than the arrangement itself.

Alexandra Road is known almost entirely for restaurants, roughly forty of them packed into a few blocks running east from No. 3 Road. People call it Food Street and they are not exaggerating. What gets overlooked is the run of ordinary street-level businesses sitting between the kitchens, and a florist among them is easier to deal with than one on a busy arterial, because you can actually stop and go in. Collecting flowers on the way to dinner somewhere on the same block is an entirely reasonable plan, given what else is on that street.
