Cars and trucks are only part of the catalogue. Eight product categories are stocked, taking in motorcycles, scooters and ATVs, RV and marine deep cycle units, mobility and medical batteries for wheelchairs and scooters, alarm systems and UPS backups, and chargers and boosters. The commercial and industrial range runs from semi truck and diesel truck through compact truck and SUV to loader, excavator and backhoe equipment in 6V, 12V and 24V. Their complete solar kits come in varying wattages, roof-mounted or portable.
Which address you want depends on whether you are after a single battery or buying at wholesale. The retail counter at #360, 20170 Stewart Crescent in Maple Ridge takes walk-ins Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 5:30, and tests a battery free without an appointment. The number there is 604-457-2288. The Surrey site at #61, 13335 115 Avenue opened in 2020 as a wholesale division for businesses and shops, by appointment only. The Lower Mainland is the area the company names for itself, supplying new and reconditioned car, truck and marine batteries for more than ten years.
By the company's own definition, a reconditioned battery is usually one discarded in error while heavily discharged. Each candidate takes a reconditioning charge, then a carbon pile load test, a hydrometer chemistry test and a cranking performance test, and anything failing to meet or exceed manufacturer specifications is rejected. Nothing more than two years past its manufacture date is processed. Installation is offered for most cars by appointment, though some vehicles need a dealership or full service facility because of computer codes.
A battery you already own can go through that same charging process instead of being replaced. It has to pass a visual check with no cracks, leaks or bulging, and be three years of age or newer. The service carries a charge that varies with the size and application of the battery, and should the recovery attempt fail and you buy the replacement there, that charge is waived. Turning up without the old battery adds a core charge, refunded when you bring it in.
Lead-acid scrap travels in the other direction. The business began in 2010 as a mobile battery recycling operation, years before any storefront, and it still pays cash for scrap lead-acid batteries, steel case forklift batteries included, at a rate that moves with the lead market. Pickups are handled by staff certified to transport dangerous goods. Household amounts of alkaline and rechargeable batteries, including laptop and cell phone packs, are recycled free.
