Craft brewing arrived late in Richmond and settled where the rent and the loading bays are: the light-industrial pockets behind Bridgeport, along River Road and east of No. 5 Road, plus a long-standing operation close to Steveston village. Tasting rooms here tend to be warehouse-shaped, family- and dog-friendly, and considerably quieter than their Vancouver equivalents.
Growler fills, flights and rotating seasonals are standard; food is usually a small kitchen or a truck parked outside. Because the sites are industrial, hours are shorter than a pub's and often end by early evening, which makes the posted hours on each listing matter more here than in most categories. Riding between a few of them on the flat is entirely realistic.
Britannia's Steveston taproom sits a block off the waterfront and pairs its own British-leaning ales with a full seafood-forward kitchen. Locals come for a flight alongside chowder or fish and chips, and it opens early enough to serve breakfast on weekends.
