Russian manicures are the specialism worth understanding before you book one. The technique uses an electric file to work the cuticle back rather than cutting it, which gets polish closer to the nail bed and makes the result hold noticeably longer. It takes more time and more skill than a standard manicure and it is priced accordingly. The trade makes sense if you would rather be back in the chair less often.
Detailed nail art is a different service again, and it runs on time rather than product. A studio doing that work fills its book well ahead, so a week is the floor for planning rather than a cautious estimate. Anyone with a fixed date should work backwards from it and add a buffer.
The location is unusual for this category. Most of Richmond's nail studios cluster in the Golden Village and around Lansdowne, in mall units and second-floor strata suites reached through a lobby. This one sits on No. 1 Road towards the Steveston end, on a suburban stretch of small commercial blocks serving the neighborhoods around them rather than a shopping district.
That makes for a far easier trip than anything in the north of the city. Street parking along that stretch is a non-event compared with the mall parkades, the traffic is residential rather than regional, and the drive down is calm in a way the No. 3 Road corridor never manages. Combining an appointment with anything in Steveston is a five-minute detour, which is worth knowing if you are coming from further out.
