About Catch Kitchen + Bar

Upstairs on the Bayview pier with big windows over Fisherman's Wharf, Catch serves West Coast seafood alongside steaks, burgers and pasta. Locals come for the sunset patio, the halibut and black cod, and a kitchen that runs late on weekend nights.

Climbing a flight of stairs to eat is a small barrier, and at Catch Kitchen + Bar it buys you the view. The room sits above the Bayview pier with big windows over Fisherman's Wharf, so you look down at the boats rather than past a parked car. West Coast seafood carries the menu, with halibut and black cod the dishes locals talk about, and steaks, burgers and pasta for anyone in the group who did not come for fish.

The pier moves in a very particular pattern. It is quiet on a wet Tuesday in February and shoulder to shoulder on the first warm Saturday in May. The patio faces the water, and a summer sunset does a great deal of the work on its own, which is why every patio in the village fills the moment the weather turns. Plan around that rather than fighting it.

Parking in Steveston is the standard local complaint and there is no point pretending otherwise. The lots near the wharf go first, and the residential streets north of Bayview are the usual fallback. Walking or riding in along the dyke is the better answer if you are coming from anywhere in the west of the city, and it turns a meal into an evening. The village itself is flat, compact and built for wandering afterwards, with the boardwalk running east and the trail out to Garry Point heading the other way. Few restaurants in this region come with that attached.

Best Sushi in Richmond BC
