About Steveston Built Local Taphouse + Grill

A taphouse near No. 1 Road and Moncton with a deep BC beer list and a long wine selection. Comfort food, burgers, salads and shareables. Roomier and less touristy than the waterfront spots, which makes it a dependable evening option.

A taphouse a few blocks back from the water serves a different crowd than the boardwalk does. Bayview in July is lovely and also full of people who parked twenty minutes ago and are still deciding where to eat. Villagers drift inland instead. This one sits near No. 1 Road and Moncton, on the quieter side of the commercial core, which is where Steveston keeps the rooms locals actually use on a weeknight.

Village dining rooms here are mostly small heritage storefronts, which shapes how groups eat. Eight tables and a Saturday party of six is a genuine problem, and it is the reason people ask about space before they ask about anything else. The inland blocks were built later and to different dimensions. That distinction between the two halves of Steveston matters more than the difference in view.

No. 1 Road carries traffic north toward Steveston Highway and south into the village proper, so this block reads as a road rather than a promenade. Nothing about it is scenic. What it offers instead is the chance to arrive without circling. The whole village fills on festival weekends and on any evening the weather turns, and the streets nearest the wharf go first, which pushes everybody a few blocks inland whether they planned it or not. Evening suits this end better than midday. Once the day crowd has drained back toward the parking lots, the inland stretch is where Steveston sits down and stays a while.

Best Brunch in Richmond BC

Brunch in Richmond splits three ways: the Steveston rooms with weekend waits, the all-day cafes away from the water, and dim sum, which is what much of the city is actually eating at eleven on a Sunday. Here is where I go, when to arrive, and where to park.

Where Locals Actually Eat in Richmond BC

Nothing on Alexandra Road is a secret. It is just in a strip mall with bad signage and no patio, which is why visitors never find it. Here is how I actually use Richmond's plazas and food courts, which specialists are worth the drive, and when not to bother.
