About Cavu Kitchen Bar

A restaurant and bar on Minoru Boulevard serving Pacific Northwest cooking from breakfast through dinner, with cocktails, BC wine and local beer. Live music on Thursdays and free parking. Handy to Richmond Centre, Minoru Park and the hospital.

Cavu occupies a stretch of Minoru Boulevard that most people pass on the way to something else, doing Pacific Northwest cooking with a drinks list built around BC producers. Rooms you would visit purely for a cocktail and a comfortable chair are scarce in this city. Most of the drinking happens inside restaurants, hotel lobbies or the casino, which leaves a real gap for anywhere designed around sitting still.

The position is more useful than it first appears. Minoru Park, the aquatic center and the hospital are all within a short walk, and Richmond Centre is barely further, so this becomes the room people use after a game, after visiting somebody, or in the gap before a mall errand. Very little else nearby does the same job, and the ones that try are attached to a lobby.

Pacific Northwest on a menu generally signals seafood, BC ingredients and a lighter hand than a pub kitchen. Choosing between here and the chains on the No. 3 Road corridor, what you are paying for is the room and the drinks rather than portion size. A weeknight suits it better than a weekend. The blocks around the mall and the park get busy in a way that does not reward a long, slow sit, and being allowed to stay in your chair is most of the appeal of a place like this. Anyone arriving from further out will find Minoru far easier to reach than the Golden Village.
