First Avenue runs one block back from the water at the west end of the village, and the businesses along it tend to be smaller and more local than the ones facing the boardwalk. That is the character of the whole street. Steveston is compact enough that you can collect flowers and do three other errands on foot from the same parking spot, which is its main advantage over a strip mall on a main road. If you need something more elaborate, or want it delivered across the city, the florists along the No. 3 Road corridor and in the City Centre malls are the better call for that kind of job.
