About Ironwood Optometry

Optometry clinic in the Ironwood complex that does a lot of myopia control work for children: orthokeratology, atropine and MiSight lenses. Also fits scleral and hybrid lenses for keratoconus and sells designer frames. Open six days a week.

Myopia control in children is a real subspecialty, and it is a large share of what happens at this clinic: orthokeratology lenses worn overnight, low-dose atropine, and MiSight soft lenses. Childhood myopia has been rising steeply for years, and the aim of these treatments is to slow how far the eye lengthens rather than simply to sharpen vision now, because the length of the eye is what drives risk decades later. If your child's prescription has jumped twice in two years, that is the conversation to have.

The clinic also fits scleral and hybrid lenses for keratoconus, which is specialized work plenty of optometrists do not take on, and it sells designer frames alongside the clinical side. Book the eye exam and the frame shopping as one trip if you can, since dilation makes choosing frames the same day harder than people expect.

The far southeast corner of Richmond is where Steveston Highway meets No. 5 Road and the retail turns big-box: wide lots, long buildings, everything reached by car. The clinic sits in that complex, and the practical upshot is that appointments here are easy to get to from the south and east sides of the city without going anywhere near the No. 3 Road corridor or its traffic. Ask about direct billing when you book, because it varies between practices and changes what you hand over at the desk. For a family appointment with two children in tow, that corner is a genuinely easier trip than City Centre.

Where Locals Actually Eat in Richmond BC

Nothing on Alexandra Road is a secret. It is just in a strip mall with bad signage and no patio, which is why visitors never find it. Here is how I actually use Richmond's plazas and food courts, which specialists are worth the drive, and when not to bother.

Terra Nova Rural Park and the West Dyke Trail
