Running out of wine an hour before dinner is the situation private liquor stores exist for. Government stores keep their own schedule and their own footprint, and the gaps they leave are mostly about timing rather than range. A private shop earns its place on the one evening you need it and on no other evening at all, which is a strange business model and a genuinely useful one.
Liquor World sits inside Lansdowne Centre on No. 3 Road, between Alderbridge and Lansdowne Road, in the older and lower-slung of the two malls along that stretch. Lansdowne has been in slow redevelopment limbo for years while towers went up around it, and the concourse stays quiet in a way shopping centers rarely manage any more. Lansdowne station is at the door, which counts for something if you would rather not drive after buying alcohol.
Private shops generally price a little above the government shelf, and that is the trade for convenience. Where they earn their keep is selection. Craft beer rotates faster than it does through the public system, and small BC producers often turn up in private stores first, because a single buyer can decide to take a case without waiting on a provincial listing. Anyone buying for a dinner somewhere in City Centre can walk to this one from most of the towers along that stretch, which is rarer in Richmond than it sounds and worth remembering before you default to a delivery app.
