About Pioneer's Liquor Store

A private store in Broadmoor Village Mall at No. 3 Road and Williams Road, open until 11pm. Reliable beer and cooler fridges including singles, a decent wine wall, and free mall parking. The obvious bottle stop for south-central Richmond.

Singles are the underrated part of a fridge like this one. Being able to buy one can of something unfamiliar, rather than committing to a six-pack of a beer you might not finish, is how most people work out what they actually like, and not every store bothers carrying them. Pioneer's stocks its beer and cooler fridges properly, singles included, and keeps a wine wall better than a mall store strictly needs.

Private stores in B.C. earn their keep on hours and location rather than on price, and this one has both working for it. Government stores in Richmond close earlier than newcomers expect, so an 11pm close in the south-central part of the city fills a real gap. Anywhere between Blundell and Steveston Highway, this is the obvious stop.

Broadmoor Village Mall at No. 3 and Williams still behaves the way a neighborhood plaza should. One lot, no charge, and no moving the car between errands. That arrangement is disappearing as the older Richmond malls become towers sitting over underground parkades, and it is worth appreciating while it lasts. Private pricing sits above the government stores by design. Convenience is the thing being paid for. At half past ten on a Saturday, most people find that a very easy trade to make.
