Most independents in Richmond close by five or six. The mall coffee counters follow the mall, so by eight the choice narrows to a fast food dining room or somebody's kitchen table. A city of this size ought to have somewhere to sit at nine at night that is not a chain, and along this stretch of No. 3 Road there are very few.
The 6386 address is a short walk from Brighouse station, in the part of City Centre that has gone vertical fastest. Thousands of people now live within ten minutes of that door, which is exactly why a late cafe works here and would not work out in Seafair. Transit is the sensible way in.
Exam season fills the room and the outlets get claimed early. Arriving with a charged laptop is the difference between settling in for the evening and circling for a seat near a wall.
