About Steve's Board and Apparel

Independent Steveston skate shop, open since 2013. Builds and repairs complete skateboards and longboards, stocks decks, trucks and wheels from Landyachtz, Sector 9 and Powell Peralta, and carries helmets, pads and slide gloves for the seawall crowd.

Building a complete is the part an online order cannot replicate. Matching a deck to trucks to wheels for a particular rider on a particular surface is a conversation, and getting it wrong is a large part of why beginners decide they do not like skating. Steve's Board and Apparel builds and repairs skateboards and longboards on Second Avenue, stocking decks, trucks and wheels from Landyachtz, Sector 9 and Powell Peralta, plus helmets, pads and slide gloves for the seawall crowd.

Richmond is flat, and for a skate shop that is the whole story. The dyke trails and the Steveston waterfront path run for kilometres without a hill, a set of stairs or a car in the way, which is close to ideal for distance riding on a longboard and useless if what you want is to bomb a hill. That geography shapes what people here ride, and therefore what needs to be on the wall.

Second Avenue sits a block back from the Steveston waterfront in the older part of the village, where the buildings are low and the streets are genuinely walkable. The village gets busy on summer weekends and goes quiet the rest of the year, and independent shops around here tend to follow the same seasonal rhythm.

Call ahead if you need a repair rather than a purchase. Repairs depend on the right person being in, and in a shop this size that is not a given on every day of the week. Buying something off the wall is a different matter, and the trail is a two-minute push from the door if you want to try it out immediately.

Where Locals Actually Eat in Richmond BC

Nothing on Alexandra Road is a secret. It is just in a strip mall with bad signage and no patio, which is why visitors never find it. Here is how I actually use Richmond's plazas and food courts, which specialists are worth the drive, and when not to bother.
