TJ Auto & Tire

Winter tires are the question newcomers ask first, and the answer surprises them. Richmond itself almost never needs one. The city gets rain, occasionally a slushy week, and very little else at sea level. The moment a car heads for the interior or up to a ski hill the rules change, because BC designates winter tire and chain requirements on many highways for a defined stretch of the cold season, and the current dates and routes are worth checking before a trip rather than assuming.

No. 5 Road runs the length of the eastern side of the city, part farmland and religious corridor further south, part light industrial up toward Bridgeport, and it carries a good share of Richmond's auto trade. Getting there from most of the city is easy. The area is built for cars rather than for waiting around in, so plan on leaving the vehicle rather than sitting nearby hoping for a coffee shop. Diagnostics are the real reason to settle on a shop and stay with it, since a strange noise deserves an hour of proper investigation rather than a guess and a parts bill.
