Hardware Stores
North Richmond power tool dealer selling and servicing saws, drills, fasteners and jobsite gear. Early weekday opening and a trade-counter feel, so it is where you go when a tool needs a repair or a part rather than replacing.
Bring the tool itself, or at minimum the model number off the plate, rather than a description of the noise it made. Staff at a trade counter are accustomed to being asked for a specific part instead of general advice, and that works in your favour once you know what you need. This dealer in north Richmond both sells and services: saws, drills, fasteners and jobsite gear on one side of the counter, repairs on the other.
Power tools have become close to disposable, which is a waste. A drill dies, the replacement costs less than the repair, and the old one goes to a landfill with a perfectly good motor inside it. A dealer that services what it sells is the alternative, and the calculation changes entirely once a tool is expensive enough to be worth fixing. Cordless platforms sharpen that further, since the batteries and chargers usually outlive the tools they arrived with.
No. 5 Road at the north end of the city runs through light industrial units and trade suppliers, a completely different Richmond from the malls and restaurant strips a few minutes west. There is room out here to pull a truck in, which is rather the point of the address. Fasteners in bulk are where a specialist counter usually beats a big-box store on selection, so ask before defaulting to the orange or the blue shop. Homeowners are welcome at counters like this. They simply need to arrive with a question rather than a problem.
