Hardware Stores
Masonry and hardscape yard on No. 5 Road stocking paving stones, retaining wall block, brick, natural stone and the sand and sealers that go with them. A weekday-only yard where you can see full pallets before you order.
Stone looks different in daylight than it does on a screen, and that single fact is the argument for a yard like this one. Paving colors photograph warmer than they are, sample boards lie about scale, and a pattern that looks fine as a thumbnail can read as busy across an actual patio. Seeing full pallets outdoors, in Richmond's flat grey light, is the only reliable way to choose.
BC Brick's yard on No. 5 Road stocks paving stones, retaining wall block, brick and natural stone, along with the sand, base material and sealers that go with them. Those consumables are not an afterthought. A patio fails at the base rather than at the surface, and the person selling you the pavers is the one who can tell you how much bedding sand and polymeric jointing the area needs. Measure before you go, and bring the square footage plus a rough sketch with your dimensions on it.
No. 5 Road runs down the eastern side of the island through farmland and light industry, an easy drive from the highway and a long way from anything walkable, so bring a vehicle with room for a sample or two. Anything at pallet volume needs a truck, since a pallet of pavers weighs considerably more than most cars should carry, so ask how delivery works before you plan a weekend around a project. Ask about lead times on anything that has to be ordered in, because a hardscape job stalls badly when the stone is three weeks out and the base is already down.
