Arrive hungry and arrive early, in that order. Dim sum that starts cooking when you order it does not appear on the table in five minutes, and the rooms working that way tend to be small ones tucked near the south end of the No. 3 Road corridor. Late morning on a Saturday is when every room in this category across Richmond is at its worst for waiting.
City Centre has changed shape around kitchens like this one. The blocks between Westminster Highway and Granville Avenue have gone vertical over the past fifteen years, the restaurant count keeps climbing, and rooms that were quietly good long before the towers arrived now sit among buildings full of people who never knew they were there. Some have adapted to that. Others carried on exactly as they were and let the neighborhood come to them. Telephone before traveling across the city, since a small kitchen and a large weekend crowd is a combination that rewards a phone call.
