About Rock House Burger & Fries

The casual burger counter at River Rock, serving smash burgers, buttermilk fried chicken tenders, fish and chips and poutine. It keeps casino hours, which makes it one of the more reliable late-night bites in Bridgeport.

Coming off a late flight with nowhere to eat is a common Richmond problem, and the casino complex is the usual answer to it. Buildings that run on their own clock keep their food outlets running alongside them, which is why this address turns up in every conversation about late food in Bridgeport.

The format is a casual burger counter, which is the right format for the setting. Fried food and something in a bun is what people want at that hour and the category needs no defending. What makes it worth knowing about is the timing rather than the cooking.

Bridgeport is the transport hinge of Richmond. The station is where the Canada Line splits between the airport branch and the Richmond branch, the bus loop feeds the whole south of the region, and River Road, Bridgeport Road and the Knight Street Bridge approaches converge within a few blocks. River Rock sits at that junction, so getting in and out is straightforward at hours when the rest of the city has gone quiet.

The surrounding area is not a walking neighborhood and there is no point pretending otherwise. Big-box retail, warehousing, hotels and parking make up most of it, and the pleasant part of Bridgeport is the riverside strip rather than the blocks near the ramps. Anyone with an evening to fill is better off ten minutes south in the Golden Village, then coming back this way once everything else has shut.

Where Locals Actually Eat in Richmond BC

Nothing on Alexandra Road is a secret. It is just in a strip mall with bad signage and no patio, which is why visitors never find it. Here is how I actually use Richmond's plazas and food courts, which specialists are worth the drive, and when not to bother.
