Kilometres of flat dyke trail, a large walking-commuter population feeding the Canada Line stations, and a rain season that runs October to April, Richmond wears through footwear. The mall stores at Richmond Centre, Lansdowne and Ironwood cover families and everyday replacements, while the Golden Village malls carry imported brands, including sizes and lasts the chains do not stock.
Beyond those, the category takes in running and walking specialists near the Olympic Oval and Minoru precinct, work-boot and safety-footwear suppliers serving the industrial areas of Bridgeport and East Cambie, and repair shops that will resole rather than replace. Hours and neighborhood appear on every listing.
Independent footwear shop at Richmond Centre carrying dress and casual styles you will not find in the chain stores next door. A smaller, owner-run counter, so ask if your size is in the back rather than assuming what is on display is all there is.
