About House of Dawn Steakhouse & Bar

Steakhouse on Ackroyd Road working with Prime, wagyu and in-house dry-aged cuts, paired with sake and cocktails as well as wine. A quieter, higher-end alternative to the chain steakhouses along the No. 3 Road corridor.

Treat this as an occasion booking rather than a Tuesday habit. House of Dawn works with Prime, wagyu and beef it dry-ages in house, and properly aged beef costs what it costs anywhere in the world. The address is the surprising part. Ackroyd Road runs behind the No. 3 Road retail through a stretch of City Centre made of offices, older low-rise and the back sides of larger buildings, and the restaurants that end up there tend to be destinations rather than walk-ins.

Steak in this city has historically meant a chain on the No. 3 Road corridor, so an independent room doing its own aging fills a genuine gap. The drinks side is the other departure. Sake and cocktails sit alongside the wine list rather than behind it, which is not how most Metro Vancouver steakhouses are built. Anyone who would rather drink a highball with a ribeye than a heavy red will find somebody here has already thought about that.

Dry aging is worth understanding before you pay for it. Time in a controlled room concentrates the beef and develops a nutty, faintly funky edge that is the whole point for some eaters and the whole objection for others. If you have never had it, order it once and settle the question for yourself. The office grid around Ackroyd empties out in the evening, which makes this corner of City Centre far calmer after dark than anywhere near the Golden Village. That is a real advantage for a long dinner.

Where Locals Actually Eat in Richmond BC

Nothing on Alexandra Road is a secret. It is just in a strip mall with bad signage and no patio, which is why visitors never find it. Here is how I actually use Richmond's plazas and food courts, which specialists are worth the drive, and when not to bother.
