About Kove Kitchen

A waterside eatery tucked behind the Bayview shops, best known for burgers and a brunch that runs all seven days and stretches to crab cake benedict, cabbage rolls, borscht and chowder. Casual and rustic, and easy to walk straight past.

A waterside room behind the Bayview shops is easy to walk straight past, and Kove Kitchen benefits from sitting slightly out of the sightline. Casual and rustic, it is best known for burgers, and the brunch is the part people plan around. Anything a little off the main path counts as useful information in a village where the weekend queues concentrate hard on the core.

What makes the brunch interesting is the range. Crab cake benedict sits on the same list as cabbage rolls, borscht and chowder, which is a genuinely unusual combination in Richmond, where brunch tends to divide into diner style on one side and Hong Kong cafe style on the other. Kove Kitchen sits outside both. A group that cannot agree on anything will find an odd menu an advantage rather than a problem.

This stretch of the Steveston waterfront runs past the Imperial Landing frontage toward the docks, an easy walk from the village core. Weekends are the pressure point down here. Anyone driving in during July should plan to leave the car once and cover the rest on foot, because the village is small enough that a single loop reaches all of it and moving a vehicle twice never helps. Off-season the whole area empties out, and the same walk takes ten minutes with nobody in the way and the river doing most of the talking.

Best Brunch in Richmond BC

Brunch in Richmond splits three ways: the Steveston rooms with weekend waits, the all-day cafes away from the water, and dim sum, which is what much of the city is actually eating at eleven on a Sunday. Here is where I go, when to arrive, and where to park.

Where Locals Actually Eat in Richmond BC
