About Lulu Island Furniture

Independent Lansdowne Centre showroom specializing in solid mahogany furniture. Dining sets, tables, desks and storage cabinets in both classic and cleaner modern shapes, aimed at buyers who want hardwood rather than veneer over particleboard.

Pull a drawer all the way out and look at the back of it. That one move tells you more about a piece of furniture than anything printed on the front does, and it is why a showroom visit still beats an online order for anything expensive. Lulu Island Furniture is an independent showroom at Lansdowne Centre dealing in solid mahogany: dining sets, tables, desks and storage cabinets, in classic shapes and cleaner modern ones.

Solid hardwood and flat-pack are not the same product, and comparing them on price alone misses what separates them. Hardwood can be sanded and refinished, it takes repair, and proper joinery holds up over decades in a way dowelled particleboard does not. It is also heavier, more expensive up front, and it moves slightly with humidity, which in a damp delta city is a real consideration for a large tabletop. Ask how a piece is jointed, and check whether the timber runs solid throughout or is a solid frame around a panel.

Lansdowne Centre sits on No. 3 Road between Lansdowne and Brighouse stations, and the site has been working through a long redevelopment toward towers and mixed use, so the mall as it stands now is not the mall it will be. Independent tenants inside it are worth visiting while they are still there. Furniture of this type is frequently ordered rather than carried in stock, so establish lead times before planning a room around a particular arrival date.

Where Locals Actually Eat in Richmond BC

Nothing on Alexandra Road is a secret. It is just in a strip mall with bad signage and no patio, which is why visitors never find it. Here is how I actually use Richmond's plazas and food courts, which specialists are worth the drive, and when not to bother.
