About Steveston Veterinary Hospital

Full-service animal hospital on Francis Road, established in 1974 and one of Richmond's longest-running vet clinics. Preventive care, dentistry, diagnostics, general and orthopedic surgery, plus grooming, boarding and end-of-life support.

Registering with a vet before you need one is the best piece of advice for anybody arriving in this city with an animal. The worst possible moment to start phoning around is eight on a Sunday evening with a sick dog in the back of the car, and by then the choice is whoever answers rather than whoever is right.

Full service means something specific in veterinary medicine. Preventive care, dentistry and diagnostics sit alongside surgical work, and when grooming, boarding and end-of-life support happen in the same building, an animal is not being shuttled between strangers at the worst moments. That last one deserves saying plainly. Having somewhere familiar for the hardest appointment, with staff who already know the animal, is worth more than most people realize until the day arrives.

Francis Road runs east to west through Broadmoor and is one of the more useful roads in the city for an errand like this. It is residential, easy to drive, and roughly central between Steveston, Seafair and the No. 3 Road corridor, which means a clinic here draws from a wide slice of south and west Richmond rather than from a single neighborhood.

Longevity is the other signal worth reading in this category. A practice that has looked after several generations of the same families' animals carries institutional memory no chart system reproduces, and in a city where people stay in the same houses for thirty years, that is more common than you would expect.

Where Locals Actually Eat in Richmond BC

Nothing on Alexandra Road is a secret. It is just in a strip mall with bad signage and no patio, which is why visitors never find it. Here is how I actually use Richmond's plazas and food courts, which specialists are worth the drive, and when not to bother.
