About River Rock Casino Resort

Richmond's biggest resort: hotel rooms and suites above a casino floor, a theatre that pulls touring acts, a marina and restaurants including Gordon Ramsay Steak. Bridgeport SkyTrain is at the door, so downtown is about 20 minutes away.

Bridgeport station is the reason this property works the way it does. The Canada Line puts downtown Vancouver about twenty minutes away and the airport a short ride in the other direction, and the resort sits essentially at the station door on River Road. For anybody flying in and out, or coming to Richmond for a show without wanting to drive home afterwards, that geography does more work than any list of amenities.

The property combines hotel accommodation, a casino floor, a theatre that draws touring acts, a marina on the river and several restaurants. Richmond does not have many hotels at this scale outside the airport strip, so it ends up absorbing a wide range of roles. The wedding block booking. The out-of-town family. The concert night and the overnight layover. Few buildings in the city serve that many unrelated purposes at once.

Illustrative only. This is not a photograph of River Rock Casino Resort or its premises.

The location deserves an honest read. You are on the north edge of the island among highway ramps, warehouses and the river, with no neighborhood to wander out into afterwards. Everything you do is either inside the building or one train ride away. That suits a short stay very well and a family holiday considerably less, and anybody wanting to see the food side of Richmond will be riding a couple of stops south to Aberdeen to find it. Bridgeport is a transport node rather than a place, which is exactly why the resort was built there.

Where Locals Actually Eat in Richmond BC

Nothing on Alexandra Road is a secret. It is just in a strip mall with bad signage and no patio, which is why visitors never find it. Here is how I actually use Richmond's plazas and food courts, which specialists are worth the drive, and when not to bother.
