Steveston is Richmond's historic fishing village, set at the mouth of the south arm of the Fraser River. The village grew around the fishery and still works at it: a commercial fleet ties up at Fisherman's Wharf and sells its catch directly off the dock. The Gulf of Georgia Cannery and Britannia Shipyards bookend the boardwalk, and Garry Point Park closes the western edge of the village where the dyke trail runs along the water.
Moncton Street carries the commercial core, a run of independent cafes, bakeries, gift shops and restaurants. Bayview Street takes the waterfront side, closer to the wharf and the boardwalk, while Chatham Street and Second Avenue hold addresses set back from the main run. No. 1 Road carries further commercial frontage where the village meets the road north through the rest of Richmond. Businesses here are usually described by street rather than by mall or plaza, so knowing which of those five streets an address sits on is most of the work of finding it.

Walking is the practical way to cover Steveston once a car has been parked. The dyke trail follows the waterfront past the shipyards and out to Garry Point Park, and the commercial streets sit close enough together that an address on Chatham Street is a short walk from one on Bayview Street. The Canada Line does not reach this part of Richmond, so arrivals are by road. Within a single category, several options usually sit inside the same few blocks, which makes comparing them straightforward.
